Google cloud storage , April 2025 review

Google is the dominant search engine accounting for close to 80% of searches made around the world [1]. Google entered the cloud business relatively late with the Google Cloud Platform in October 2011[2] and with Google Drive in April 2012[3]. However, loosely speaking Google has always been a cloud company since its inception (e.g. through Google search, Google email, Google docs), it just took them more time to offer file and application cloud storage.

Google states it has over 800 million users for Google Drive as of May 2017[3]. Google Drive storage is shared with Google's email flagship product (GMail) and Google's photo flagship product (Google Photos). Google Drive storage et al. offers a free file cloud storage plan, as well as paid plans from $1.99 (USD) to $299.99 (USD) a month.

The Google Cloud platform offers over 50+ products and services focused on application cloud storage.
